Uttarakhand Role of Information and Communication Technology in Education
In the present time, the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is pivotal in not only carrying out educational activities smoothly but also to encourage children to go to schools.
With the advancement of the technology and the use of computers in our daily routine, it becomes the responsibility of the Government and the Education System to implementing the strategies to empower ICT in supporting teaching and learning process in the schools.
In this endeavor, a lot of efforts are being made the Central Government in the form of ‘Digital India’ and the State Governments by integrating ICT in the education.
Government of Uttarakhand is one such state who is making significant efforts and attempts to integrate computer technology in the education. The Government under its 'Aarohi Programme' aims to install 5 – 6 computers in 1720 schools in the state.
According to the latest update in their official website i.e. http://www.schooleducation.uk.gov.in (last updated 16 October 2018), 1709 schools have been provided with 8809 computers.
Similar efforts are also being made to educate the teaching staff on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with the help of Microsoft and INTEL.
