Students participating in sports may have Board exams on convenient dates
Government of India has taken various steps to promote sports amongst youth and school students. In one such initiative, CBSE has introduced Health and Physical Education at Secondary and Senior Secondary levels as a mandatory period per day for sports, games, etc.
In March 2018, CBSE decided to help the students who participate in International Sports Events and studying in CBSE affiliated schools in Class X or XII for the purpose of appearing in the Board's examination. This facilitation was extended where the Board exams were coinciding with their participation in any International sports event.
It has been decided to make this as a policy and extended such facilitation to all students whose CBSE Board exams clash with their participation in an international sports event that is recognized by Sports Authority of India and the student participates as a representative of India.
For all such students, their examination will be conducted at a later stage, at a date mutually convenient to the student and the Board however before the declaration of Board results. Students are required to request in writing to the CBSE through their schools along with the recommendations from the Sports Authority of India informing about the participation in the international events on the date of examination or near the date of examination. Schools are requested to communicate such cases to the concerned Regional Office of the CBSE by 31st January 2019.
CBSE has also released a format that is to be used for making the necessary request. Click here to read the official release by CBSE and the format (refer page 2 of the notice).
