Certificate of Honour and Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman for the Year 2018
On the eve of Independence Day i.e. 15th August, the Honourable President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind has awarded the Certificate of Honour and Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman to the scholars of Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian, Classical Kannada, Classical Telugu for the year 2018. According to the press release around 33 scholars have been rewarded with the Certificate of Honour in different languages, with most for them for Sanskrit.

About Certificate of Honour
A scheme for the award of the Certificate of Honour was introduced in the year 1958 to honor the scholars for their substantial contribution of languages like Sanskrit, Arabic, and Persian.
In the year 1996, the scheme was extended to cover Pali and Prakrit. The Certificate of Honour is conferred on the eve of Independence Day every year in recognition of the outstanding contribution of various scholars of eminence over 60 years of age, by the Honourable President of India.
